Footprints

I saw two sets of footprints

Neath a thick dark snowy sky

While on a winter walk
And stopped to wonder why

Beneath that heavy falling snow
That barely showed these sets of feet
It was still clear enough to see

Where two souls had come to meet

Here, where children often play

But not this cold and wintry day

Just two sets of footprints here

In this frigid atmosphere

What brought them here
In the cold of snowy weather

Did it happen just by chance

Or had they planned to meet together

I wondered where they were now

What decisions did they make

Who was it that had met

Was it because of some heartache

What had happened in this spot

Was now quietly covered by snow

It had brought an end to my look

As would the closing of a book

Have you gone all soft on us? I've been reading a number of your kick-a*s poems & now this! I almost started to get a little whimpery while reading. All kidding aside, since your poem seems to parallel the old spiritual sentiments about two sets of footprints, one being God, I can't help but to think of this approach as I read your poem. I like the way this could be interpreted different ways, such as someone meeting a departed beloved or an angel (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I am wondering if we have left a bit too much behind.

Fairly tripped off the tongue when read aloud and left me wondering to who the pair were and why out meeting in that place whilst the weather like that.
Well done that man :)

Happy New year to you too Dave
Pondering shadows of events past, I do that, too. This is a sensitive one, but I like it.

Hello Samuel
Thanks for visit
Hope all is well and you are enjoying the new year
Hello Dave. This poem is one of my favourites of yours. It has mystery and beauty in it. A very visual write full of intrigue. Your lines flowed well when I read them out loud. Nicely done.
