Tears

By Sabrina Fowl

What happens to the tears we cry?

Do they brush their own aside

When we don’t want to say good bye?

Or do they fall with happiness

Off your cheeks

To a loved one’s lips

What happens when they hit the ground?

Do they go splat?

Or maybe plop?

The final tear

Will stain your shirt

Leaving you with a memory

Of what hurt.

there are answers to the questions about what happens to tears or how they arise, however the kind of tear that falls from a painful memory are probably the most bitter ones. it is lamenting the past that will never return, however, every time the memory comes back that same tear will fall again. excellent poem.

I think this is great! Especially the last part about the tear leaving a stain. Very bittersweet. The joy of someone loved dearly, and the sorrow of leaving them. Great piece of poetry. :) I look forward to reading more of your work.
