Patron, Vodka, & Me

Patron, Vodka, & Me

A Poem by Karlie Kadabra.

Tears mixing with Vodka,

Words dissolving in alcohol.

This is what you do,

It's what you've resorted to.

There's more to life

Than giggling and falling.

Tripping and stumbling

Over words and tired feet.

You muttered a promise,

You told me a lie.

I thought you were sober,

But you have no alibi.

Empty bottles hide under your bed

I guess the monster grabbed your ankles again.

Climbing into bed at 3 a.m.

Waking up to a text from a worried friend

Another statistic to go on the charts.

You have that brooding glare

Those sweet words.

It's time to let go,

Time to move on.

Which one will it be-

Me or the Patron?

i feel like you wrote this as just an 'outing' of your feelings, if you will. Like you arent sure what to think or say so you just put it in words. The last question of your thoughts are deeper than the surface: "Which one will it be- Me or the Patron?" Very interesting. I like the way this is written though, like the rhyming scheme is not obnoxious as I have probably complained about before, and I actually like this one. I really like the almost-indifference of this poem, yet at the same time, you're just.. thinking.

Favorite lines would have to be "Empty bottles hide under your bed, I guess the monster grabbed your ankles again." and "Which one will it be- Me or the Patron?"
