Best Friend

Best Friend

A Poem by Karlie Kadabra.

You came rushing over to my house
While the world was asleep.
All because I was crying,
Because I said I couldn't breathe.
You held me in your arms,
Told me it'll be okay.
You have your own problems
But you made them go away.
From getting me out of many fights
To holding me while I cry,
Making me laugh like Hell,
Making my face hurt from smiling.
You're my best friend,
The one I couldn't live without.
I'd like to say that I love you,
More than you'll ever know.
And as long as I can talk,
I'll yell it aloud.

I noticed in your bio you had noted Pablo Neruda as a writer you enjoy. I'm sure you've read "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair." If you haven't, you should, it's amazing.

I can't comment on much more than the sentiment. I've been in similar circumstances, where a best friend drops everything to visit. It's much appreciated, and makes one feel special.

Because I don't think this was written with technical craft in mind, I'll say the sentiment was strong, and admirable.

Best of luck with your future writings.

The best poem on friendship is this;

I shed a tear today.
Silently, I felt it fall.
You caught it,
shared it,
held it,
felt it,
then suddenly it wasn't so big after all.
