Trapped

Trapped

A Poem by Kimo

I am trapped

Bound in place by a decision I don’t even have to make

Do I dare step away from reality?

To infringe a upon fragile fantasy

Left or right? up or down? come or go? stay or leave?

I feel trapped

I step forward, trudging onward in constant quizzical puzzlement

Should I decide?

Or remain in the blissful state of having not decided

If I go, how shall I get there?

Where will I stay?

What will I say? Do? Hear?

What about them?

What will they say? Do? Hear?

So many questions

Perhaps it’s best not to go

To break a promise long forgotten to all

To give into that which is expected

Let this choice fade to memory

Like a scar into skin

As the red, red rose calls to the yellow, yellow butterfly

She too calls to me

But as the thorns of the rose prick the unwary

She too may hurt me

I am trapped
