Stop Ignoring Us!

Stop Ignoring Us!

A Poem by kingblaq
"

And then the pot bellied society looks at the youths suffering from starvation and says he is scared of the future

"

Oh Please!

My elders!

Why do you keep saying "son,

You are the leader of tomorrow,"

When I don't even get the back row seat of your decision making?

Yes, the mother hen dines with the duck,

Yet, she loses her future to the predating hawks

Our elders,

You, the old quadrant of the circle that doesn't care about the younger quadrants.

You tell us to gaze at the sun, when our eyes can't even withstand the twinkling stars

You say our weakness causes upset in your stomach

But I say, hungry men don't belch

Its the number of stomachs the nanny has that makes her walk on four legs,

It's has never been about her baby.

Let the yam stop blaming the pot for cooking her children!

Let her learn from the cassava,

Her younger sister, who sacrifices her life to save her future

The world isn't your inheritance,

It's a loan

You borrow it from your children

The classroom is not the teacher's

It's for the students who will teach the teacher's children.

My pen needs to rest.

Such a powerful line. Considering as i type, i am in my business class- this line really made me look to the teacher and my classroom in a new light. I keep repeating this line over and over and over in my mind... it's so powerful! So true... so beautiful.

Great wisdom in your words. I agree the children are the future. We must insure every child is fed, cloth and have a place to live. Thank you for the excellent poem.

Yep...corrupt that individual seemed to be. I can see and hear somebody pounding on a podium with his fist...driving home these ideals and bringing into light those forgotten and weary. Yes podium pounding politician...but one that is bringing truth where there is mesh veil of deception. :)

You have a lot of insight at a very young age. You approach the subject quite smoothly and let it be known just how wrong this truly is. You back your opinions and beliefs strongly basing them not on just what you feel, but also facts. Well done.
