Floccinaucinihilipilification.

Floccinaucinihilipilification.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

The act of assesing something thats worthless.

"

A tiny and mere space of nothing in-between,

No smiles or tears to capture in one’s heart,

Lifeless emotion to stare on aimlessly,

Graves are open to fill in, in part.

Blank eyes have souls of no matter,

Tea stains in perfect hollow rings,

Thoughts come and go with furious wind,

Take attention of nothing he sings.

Fingers punching at plastic and horror,

Read on dear people no love of pans,

Lapping on vodka to feel something, anything,

Speed in lines in balls in acid coloured cans.

Brace yourself Time my w***e master,

I’m running to you now without jittery retention,

Catch my waist as wings give promise in attendance,

Pain gone or exhausted floccinaucinihilipilification.

A very poignant comment on life. Looking at it in a way, life is just a nothingness, a meaningless interval between two events. And we, in futility, searching for a meaning, a drug, till all is swept by time into an open, waiting grave. I agree with Shane Mohamed -A masterpiece from you.

sometimes we just don't feel like anything worthwhile is in our lives, or our pens.

and life seems aimless...we feel in a place of no feelings...just emptiness, barely existing.

i felt just nothing after reading that...i mean that in a good way...like i had no spirit left, no interest in anything in life...just a void...

if you can make the reader feel something or nothing that strongly, you have put forward some good words and a well developed theme.

nice work, Thomas.

Thank you very much.
We often find comfort taking interest in immaterial things because they give false sense of feeling voids in our own lives... a very whimsical poem with intellectual pondering.

You are welcome.
There are certainly times in my life when I felt void, without worth or emotion. And certainly I saw life that way in those times. I think you've captured it well. I like the bits about tea rings and drug induced emotion. It's funny that you'd twist the common notion about alcohol having a numbing effect, when it fact it pulls emotions from us. someone here described at as picking at scabs.

Anyway, I always feel a little inadequate trying to write about your works. There is always so much in them.

Mark my darling, thank you x
Gotta admit, that title caught my eye. Your poem, then, kept my attention. Only fools see no value in the empty spaces. And all the ways we try to feel nothing - they don't work, because that nothing is really something anyway...

I think you broke my brain...trying wrap my head around 'no love of pans', I think I might have to read this one a few dozen times to get the gist of it my love or perhaps I jut need few more laps of vodka....at least I leaned a new word today.
