Dysfunctional Limerence

Dysfunctional Limerence

A Poem by Kelly
"

Also known as "Set Me Free."

"

Sometimes I wanna smoke a cigarette

With memories of you

And how you would light my Friday nights

Like there was nothing left to do

The way your eyes shined in the bedroom light

I swore the moon was in my favor

The way my heart ached in the midnight sky

Was something I would savor

Set me free again

I wanna feel the danger

Set me free again

Hold me in the moonlight

Set me free again

I wanna feel your summer skin

Set me free again

I don’t know what I need now

Set me free again

Make me taste the danger

Set me free again

Make me feel your soul burn

Set me free again

I want to breathe your words

Take it in

Breathe me out

Set me free

I don't know what I want

Hold me and set me free

I took away the repetition in the last few lines because it didn't really fit. Ignore the fact that it says there are two versions. I screwed up the editing process.

Great work, the last two lines were my favourite, showing the conflict of feeling we can towards someone, and how love can really mess us up as individuals

This poem was perfect, it brilliantly conveys the longing for the reunion of past love

I loved this.
I especially enjoyed this part: "I swore the moon was in my favor
The way my heart ached in the midnight sky
Was something I would savor"

Beautifully executed.

"Hold me and set me free" Seems contradictory, makes you think.

I liked the contradiction I set up in that line.
