Fleshing Through The Dark

Fleshing Through The Dark

A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

Love cuts through the darkness

"

In the still of a cold dark night

Two souls burrow in Egyptian cotton

Through thick layers of unending dream

Beneath the mounds of extra pillows

Your hand finds mine.

The absolute warmth

Of your tender flesh

Sends me reeling

If I’m not careful,

I could lose it all.

You are a life line from Heaven

Sent to rescue me

From my own private hell

God knows I’ve come to love you

Deeply, truly -- you’ve cracked my cold hearted shell.

There was a time when life left me broken

Shattered beyond repair

But you showed up

So unexpected;

Pugnacious to the core

You refused to let me show you the door.

Now here we are,

In the still of the night

Your hand entwined in mine

Whispering sweet nothings

That will carry us away

Two hearts create a rhythm all their own,

As two souls flesh their way through the dark.

Thanks for reading, reviews welcome.

Even when you are irrevocably broken then are some things worth fighting for.

Kindred spirits never haunt but appear. Usually just when you thought you were alone. No broken heart or, one thought so cold can ever repel an offering hand. I think that light shines through such words as you have brought together and new color can be seen in the lives of those who read them. Very sweet indeed.

Thanks so much Rita :)
Another very well penned write, emotions displayed honestly, that many can relate to. We tend to only accept what we feel we are worthy of, oftentimes pushing away those who mean well. However even in the darkest times kindred spirits bring their love and light into our world, giving us hope and healing to face another day.

Exactly. Thank you so much for the kind words and for stopping by.
I think when you are broken, you think everyone is against you and no one is there for you - that everyone has left you, but they haven't. They're there for you and always will be, especially family, they love you and no matter how down you feel, they'll be there to pick up those pieces and try to take your mind off things. You think that the whole world is against you and nothing is worth fighting for, but it is. We should always fight.

I have a feeling this is wrong, sorry if it is.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
A tender piece tinged with a deaserate sadness and an element of self doubt.
Beneath the layers of extra pillows. Layers is used twice in the opening stanza. Piles or mounds of extra pillows might fit?
