Sweet Darkness

Sweet Darkness

A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

Darkness has met its match...

"

Oh sweet darkness, come to me

Let me linger in the magic inspired by our insidious kiss

And the delicious doom you impinge upon my heart

Like a dagger soaked in deadly nightshade

The endless expanse of nothingness created by our sins

Is plush enough for me to dive right in.

Oh sweet darkness, I beg of thee

I never imagined a life with you stalking my every move

But I’m addicted to your dark and dangerous moods

You shuttle my spirits to bouts of ostentatious rapture

Then drop me like dead weight to rocky shores

Leaving me to die;

Bleeding and exposed to the core

Your callousness only makes me want more.

Oh sweet darkness, how could you be so naïve?

You’ve toyed with the wrong heart

I’ll not be your feast for the taking

After lying with me sweet darkness,

You’ll be collecting your fractured remains.

See, I know what you were here to steal

But I beat you to the punch

God your soul looks delicious,

Maybe I should have it for lunch?

Come now sweet darkness,

You shouldn’t have shown such zeal

And left me on those jagged rocks to die

Didn’t you hear me cry?

Rest assured your soul is in a safe place

If you’re good, maybe I’ll even let you have a taste.

Oh sweet darkness, you’ve no idea who I am

You’ll follow me forever because you think you can

Together we could rule the world

Now that I have the upper hand;

You are my sweet darkness

But I won’t be your sacrificial lamb.

A loving type of chant for craved the darkness at hand. Nice job. A riveting read. :)

this plea to nothingness is not falling at all on deaf ears
in fact darkness is anti-matter personified
one day you will understand this
it is so simple a concept to realize
but waiting to be just the same
like the purity of your first prom gown
can be darkness in all its innocence and brightness
cause that was a 1st.
and you cant have a 1st again:)
and 2nd is just not the same
and you have a great life and be a good wife

Wow, you write it so well!

"Like a dagger soaked in deadly nightshade
The endless expanse of nothingness created by our sins
Is plush enough for me to dive right in."

Wow, the imagery in this piece was so powerful and vivid. This was amazing.

And you paint the darkness so well, Kristin!

Like a dagger soaked in deadly nightshade
The endless expanse of nothingness created by our sins...

I can taste the bitterness in these lines. Well done!

Reminds me of a piece I wrote but never posted here in which one person thinks they are the manipulator only to discover it was all a trap and that they are now trying to find their own way out of the heart they tried to steal.

Rest assured your soul is in a safe place
If you’re good maybe I’ll even let you have a taste.

Nice words. Dark and haunting of course. I would hope this is not an autobiography? lol
