![]() GoodbyeA Poem by Kristin Lee![]() A relationship meets its tragic end...![]() Tip toeing through fields of green Until we reach the sun kissed stream That’s where we’ll commence this dream. Echoes of the past will scream Jealous of the passions we preen This frantic delirium, a token Of one stolen moment Where happiness exists And everything else is the lie. You know I could stay here forever, Surrender to the safe harbor that is your eyes… If only they were real And I’d never been privy to your lies. Dancing under a disco ball of stars You catch me every time I fall In your strong, steady arms I fell like the bell of the ball. The fire leaps towards the sky Licked by its sinuous blue heat I fear I might die I know you’ll never understand By the light of day You can’t even reach for my hand. But at least we have this moment Our chance to say goodbye Let us linger here It’s okay to cry Tomorrow when summer's gone And the hangover begins to rear I’ll be praying for another beer. And you… You’ll be free and clear To chase after the Home Wrecker of the Year. © 2013 Kristin LeeAuthor's Note
