A Poem by Nautili

I love what exists

    (by naked eye,

           by passer-by,

           in the spaces

between us.

       The energy of love,

The unspoken understanding,

     The profundity of being known

As a flawed instrument

     from which flows to your ear

          enchanting music.

     The smiles of amusement between best friends.

The lack of words;

          A testament to our knowing

          each other so implicitly that

    words can be quite unnecessary at times.

They can detract, distract, subtract

       from the message, if too familiar,

too relied upon.

You say you love me in the stripped down spaces-

Which are what makes the melody so lovely,

The lyrics so pertinent;

The hallowed spaces as integral as the tune.

to imagine the space between to people filled up with what others pass off as emptiness. This is a wonderful poem.

The music of your sweet soul arouses the mind and heart to the beauty of creation... to the wonders of love... to the joy found even in the quiet spaces of the shadows within. I love how your every word is placed to perfection, dancing alongside the next.

This was special Nautili. I learned a new word here as well in "profundity". Nice use of this word.

I am a musician as I must assume you are by reading this. "Spaces" or pauses are as important as the notes themselves. Timing is critical in life and in music. You poem uses this fact to convey well the need for "breathing room" in relationships and in communications.

I strong poem!
