Sheers

Sheers

A Poem by Lexi Richard

You must be a simpleton
if you think that I'm yours
You never once owned me at all,
I'm mine down to the core

You thought you had me in your hand
like I was your china doll,
but I am not your property
I don't need someone so dull

You thought you still had me tied to strings
like you're my puppeteer,
but they have been cut for so long
and I'm holding the sheers

What a great affirmation. The line "I'm mine down to the core" is the best.
I would love to see what you do with a story
