A Poem by limoncello
"

a poem for a friend

"

Are you lonely?

That’s okay, because

Loneliness is temporary.

Togetherness is forever

Are you sad?

That’s okay, because

Happiness will come.

True happiness is forever.

Have you lost hope?

Never fear, for

Doubt is temporary.

Hope is forever.

You are not weak.

Guess what?

You’ve got heart.

Heart is forever.

limoncello
I wrote this in class for a friend of mine. It's not exactly polished or clever or good in general, but that's okay, because I didn't intend for it to be.

your desire to uplift is obvious ...i think the appeal is universal and can be applied in many different circumstances when disappointments, pain, loss, grief etc. befall us .. having a friend will to offer a helping word of encouragement is sometimes all one needs.

This is very creative, limoncello. Your friend should be pleased. I should have a friend like you. You didn't write this for the critics, you wrote it for one who loved every word. It draws energy from profound simplicity and offers cheerfulness to the saddest soul. No flowery rhetoric needed. The repetition of "forever" makes this a classic, as true a century from now just as the day you wrote it. Hope you got an "A".

Sometimes, these things write themselves and interpretation brings differing expressions to each reader.
