Hello moon

Hello moon

A Poem by Donald Meikle

just another weirdo
standing staring into space
oblivious to now
and all its consequences

Life and traffic roaring by
As he contemplates the fate
Of someone he has never met
Who looks at life with all its quirks
and paints her views with words
and makes him look at all his works
and wonder what it's worth

and all those other mystic men
Who stood and stared at empty space
then tried their damndest best
to fill it

The point of view is truly artistic... I like where you wrote "standing staring into space oblivious to now and all of it consequences" wow!
That's a quotable...
"Who looks at life with all its quirks and paints her views with words,
and makes him look at all his works and wonder what all its worth"
The word play is genius.
Keep it up!

Donald, I stand on my balcony every night and watch the stars... then in the morning I watch the planes flying east and west, trailing smoke kisses in the sky. I write about it all obsessively and I sometimes worry that it is making me mad, making me miss some vital point or whatever. You've kind of made me feel better knowing I'm not alone, haha. In fact I will step onto my balcony now, raise a glass to the moon... and to your poem, Donald.

I love all things, lunar! Being the astrological 'moonmaiden", I am always drawn to its influence, and voyueristic stare.

"and all those other mystic men
Who stood and stared at empty space
then tried their damndest best
to fill it"

...great verse!

Ohmygosh, this is wonderful. Your trenchant wit always makes me giggle and ever stand in awe of the workings of your slightly bent Scottish noodle! How much I enjoy you, luv.
