Days Like These

Days Like These

A Poem by Linear
"

We all get them

"
I dont know whats so different about today
Today I feel the knife twist
Turn a little deeper
Opening up the wound

Yet years have passed
So why this pain
Why now?
Drowning in tears once again

Perhaps it's the music bringing me down
Now your face is in my eyes
Yet your eyes no longer see me
Your ears no longer hear me
Lips that no longer kiss me, or speak to me

Why does my heart bleed
When I thought it had turned to stone?
Why this day
How many more days will I bleed
Before my pennence is done

I wonder how to break this spell
This incantation that you cast on me
On days like these
I wonder

This is just so heartrending in all its truthfulness. The personal despair, pain, and inner longing for it to just go away. But it never does. And it shows up at the most inopportune times. I could never have said it as wonderfully as you have in this piece. Simply amazing how you pull an individual into your work and leave us here sympathizing.

As long as we have memories that are based in thought, images, smells, sound we can recall them vividly. There is no way to get over it except to feel through it to the other side where you will make new memories and feelings that will one day remove the old. Yet on days like this, those memories may rise again. They are now apart of who you are. Powerful write indeed.

A powerful poem. Life can trick us. Old memories can sneak up on us. Old friends faces appear bringing good and bad time forward. Even the heart of stone can find tears again.

Heart felt and exquisite. I often wonder the same thoughts. Love always remains love.
