Dumpster Rose

Dumpster Rose

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"

Toxic concrete

Desperation's jungle

Wrapped around throats

Full of cracks

And broken things

Hopeless and s**t

 however

So every so often

Up comes a rose

Perfectly grown

 perfect

Among chaos

Despite cracks

The broken things

Those desperate minds

And toxic hard things

   survival

Suffering

   to survive

And up came this rose

Perfect among chaos

Beautiful in any venue

 in any language

Perfect and exposed

Admired but left alone

   respected beauty

Because old friend....

Every so often

When it's hope

That every so often

Grows where it shouldn't

It breeds more

  inside

It shows beauty

And a message

   that says

Every so often

Anything is possible

That everything can be beautiful

Even all that is ugly

Can become all that was ugly

So we can be beautiful

     objectively

     together

Knowing no shame

Fearless and finding...

Happening

Hopefully

     upon the lost of us

To find the best in us

There is a symbiotic need, both ways... for the broken and desperate and for the fortuitous rose.

Providence or a perfect coincidence, whatever the origin of the rose, yet once it came into being, each needs the other for sustenance, to grow and be complete. That's the beauty of it.

You really touched a chord here.

Have you ever heard of a show called "The Wire"? The first season of that inspired this.

It's good. You have a unique writing style
This poem speaks to me of resilience and survival. Against all the odds, against all the suffering and chaos, there springs a ray of hope. I think you have captured well in your words that glint of light in a world of darkness. I wrote a poem about London Pride which was a tiny flower which sprung up on the bombed sites of London. That tiny ray of hope against a background of destruction. I like that theme very much. Your words could equally be applied to those rare breed of people who manage to bring sunshine when there is none. In nature you can often see that ray of hope against all the odds. Well done David, a lovely piece of writing.

It's a good one, and one that I'll remember for sure.
This is such a beautiful poem to represent the rare people out there... the beautiful oddballs who bring light and hope into an otherwise dark world. At least, that's my interpretation of it. I've always loved the symbolism behind a rose; you've inspired me to write about it. Thank you for the lovely work! I especially loved the repetition and the rhythm. Very well done.

Thanks Rosie. Your interpretation sure is the one I had intended.
What is this? Could this really be a romance? Is this a tragedy? I wonder of all what it could be... Let's say, poetry? It fits perfectly. Yes it does.

Great write that touches on an absolute truth.

Nothing brighter
or more profound
than light against
a darker background.

In the ruined castle, you shall find the stuff of myth and legend.

Fantastic!
