Who R U...

Who R U...

A Poem by Marquise
"

sometimes the ones we want to love we have trouble getting o know, and sometimes more otfen than not, the ones we do love.. we don't really know them at all...

"

I ask that question as I look forward
to getting to know the YOU behind that
beautiful mask, those deep wandering eyes
that make me believe that there is more to you
than you care to express simply because
of the trials and tribulations of life, but
I'd be lying if I said I fully understand.
Simply because I am not a woman...

My name is marquise
and I hide behind a name that is
common to others as the
"one who is overlooked often".
Nerds are admired for their
intellect and nothing more.
So I take refuge in a place
misunderstood by people who
fight for position in society,
instead of collaborating against
what society wants them NOT to be.

Being called beauttful is one thing,
but feeling beautfiul is another.
Most men who aren't attentive
to their own emotions fail to realize
that every woman they deem as
beautiful doesn't always see it themselves
and no mirror on this planet
could duplicate that reflection...

Mirrors need light to operate
so if she is surrounded in darkness,
how can that mirror show her
what she can't see?
I can't be that light, for that
is HIS position, but I can be
the hand that holds yours
as He leads...

But first you just have to
show me at least a fragment of
who you really are, cause right
now I can't mentally see a thing.
I know that will take time, and
I see your not wearing a watch
so...
take mine...
who r u...

Marquise, I think this piece has a ton of strong potential and with a little fleshing out could be something spectacular. You really have great ideas and direction with this.

About
I don't consider myself a writer because I don't write often, but I have trouble putting words together when I want to express myself verbally. Writing is the one way I can do this successfully. I lov.. more..
