Society

A Poem by Mary Jo. Clare
"

This poem is about society, and how it has such a huge impact on one's well-being. Please read and enjoy!

"
Society.
A king,
ruling over its peasants that walk on their dirt-covered roads.
Crowned with an overwhelming power and authority,
It waves its staff, demanding changes and negative reforms.
Society.
It has the ability to form a person.
To essentially, make them who they are.
Molding them from nothing and turning them into something.
Society does not equal community.
It's heavy doors can shut right in your face.
Even after you've completed a long and tireless journey to its indescribable palace.
Oh Society!
What is your gain from my displeasure?
What is your use of my internal happiness?
What is the point in battling me, a weakling, incapable of rising above you?
Don't you know that you've already won?
