Good People

Good People

A Poem by mcceewrites

It's so hard to get lost when you've been through every street in the city.
Taking the bus lines like all the pretty pretty girls do all the time.
We have so many good times with so many good people,
But they all must come to an end.
We all get high together.
I am the only one who feels low.
So low, I cannot weather the storms.
So, pass it this way, my friend.
Pass all your pain and all your pleasure.
So that I can get to know you,
And think that I'll know you forever.
But, my dear, that was in the summer,
And trust me, when the leaves start to fall...
And the weather gets colder...
I'll pretend I don't know you at all.
Because nothing really happens for a reason.
Good people come and go like the seasons.
We have so many good times with so many good people...
But, what does any of it mean?
It's all subliminal.
We all sink low together.
I am the only one who stays under.
So deep, I cannot weather the lightning and thunder.
We all were young together.
I am the only one not getting older.
Naive, so I cannot weather the solstice that's getting colder.
