Love Dared Me

Love Dared Me

A Poem by mcceewrites

I can't lie, I wanted to see you fall.
I won't hide the fact I wanted you to lose it all.
I wanted to see you drowning...
I actually wanted to drown you myself.
I never wanted you to resurface--
Because after you broke my heart, I never did.

I wanted to laugh in your face,
Cause you just as much pain as you caused me.
I wanted to stick the same knife in your back,
That you stuck in mine,
And leave you to bleed...

But, something told me,
Hold on a second...
I'm not that kind of girl.
I don't have to stoop to your levels just to make you learn.

Love dared me to catch you before you hit the ground.
Love dared me to throw out the lifesaver before you drowned.
And though it was so hard to save you before I saved myself...
I might have found something in the chaos to be kept.

I wanted to see you crash and burn,
There's no need to lie.
But, then love dared me...

And,
I had to take the dare or die.
