The Last Breath

The Last Breath

A Poem by linear
"

It's just another love story

"

They told me

Said it was the thing to do

To pass through a ring and sing to you

And if I did

You would come to me

See me through those eyes so blue

Alas the ring was broken

The lies you told were never spoken

Only I who knew the past could understand

Why it would not last.

feels like it's the expected thing to pass through a ring and sing.. like an offering.. a pledge of trust... and love will come, but it doesn't turn out that way, and it is a painful experience.... that still haunts with its questions. very sad to read this, but hope your christmas season is joyful and full of good surprises.

There are a million reasons people can / will find to protect themselves, this poem demonstrates just one. Unspoken lies, is it a lie if it is never told? hmm, I wonder. Your poem gives me much to think about, I like that in poetry. :)

Great write, we all full of expectations hoping the other would fill what we lack. The other person comes with their own baggage that sometimes traps them in the past.
