THE WOMAN SHE WAS

THE WOMAN SHE WAS

A Poem by Mercsa
"

This poem is about the strength of a single mother. I really respect them so much because it’s not easy to be a woman and a man at the same time.

"
She was once a dreamer
Her aim was to become richer
She worked all day and night
But fate was not faithful to her
Because of the difficulties she faced,
She acquainted herself with a man
Who gave her deceitful promises
Little did she knew,
He was just luring her into bed
He took away her pride and he was nowhere to be found
After nine months, a baby she conceives
She was rejected with the claim,
She was a shame
To the society and the community
She never gave up for her child’s sake
She strived day and night
Just to put a meal on the table
She was a woman
But had to also be a man
Putting things in order
Just to make things proper
Upon everything she went through
She become stronger
She never allowed the difficulties to weigh her down
She went far, to make sure her child becomes happy
Fighting every day
I’m talking about the strength of a single mother.

“The strength of a single mother” is enough to save the world one child at a time. I love your beautiful poem and message Mercsa. Eloquent language and dramatic, flowing lines. Great storytelling style that draws the reader into the words. Inspiring, important write. Brava!

You are very welcome!
so much like the reaction to Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter....the woman shamed because the man doesn't have the courage to take responsibility, and only wanted his fun...
took advantage...too many have done that...
but she survives, she is strong...she prevails...and the child grows.

Yes that’s the strength of a woman
A poet is supposed to be the voice of the voiceless in a dynamic and creative way, whether giving voice to inanimate objects or humans.

And here you've done justice to the plight of single mothers.
And single fathers, too, deserve encouragement.
And we pray for love and marriage where children can grow up in a stable home environment.

Well done!
