Tongue TiedA Poem by Lost in WonderlandMy words tripped and fell Tumbling down my throat again, Refusing to come out right…again I got tongue tied Speaking words of gib-gab gibberish Desperately scraping for one phrase packed with elegance But your eyes unnerve me And I’m stuttering and stammering again Your perfect, lush lips turn up into a sweet smile Your eyes crinkle, sincere, waiting for my reply I am star struck For you are my world; perfect, divine And here I am, acting the fool; tongue tied! Slowly I calm down, I take a deep breath and reply With a simple, friendly, quiet, “Hi.” © 2012 Lost in WonderlandAuthor's Note
