Rabsberry Tree

Rabsberry Tree

A Poem by M Lamont

Captured like a potted raspberry tree

It blooms and brings enjoyment

To those who are fortunate enough to see it

But housed on the porch, it has no real home

The vessel it is confined to, an interim purgatory

It longs to be released to the earth

Where it’s roots can grow deep

And it’s branches spread out

Able to feel the full warmth of the sun

And finally be what it was meant to be

What God intended it to be

Growing, living, producing…and free

On my grandmother's farm the raspberry bushes were in rows and rows and rows and produced such happy large berries. Yes, the poor little offshoot I took is not so happy in it's pot, half in the pot and found it's way out of the pot on it's own, and now half in the ground. Longing to be out of the pot, it's prison, it found it's way, all on it's own... so it is half-way there. But it will still need help. I like your line, "what God intended it to be" and vessel, confined, interim purgatory, etc. Very enjoyable seeing these writings after we've talked...! : )

Nice :) while reading i got the feeling that the poem itself has more to it then just the raspberry tree. Somehow i can't help thinking it reflects to yourself.
I like the overall flow and the description of what seems so simple and is yet so complex.
Really good poem, certainly because it gives that feeling...it's not just the raspberry tree is it?
