The UnOriginals

The UnOriginals

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

This is a poem, a tribute of sorts to all the followers out there.

"

vestige-by-rob-mulholland_1

They're tailgating my every move,

a serpent after prey.

I smerk and listen to hear them,

only footsteps away.

They shadow me like mockery,

as if I am a God.

They truly have no real idea,

a mere seed under sod.

Maybe, I will purposely fall,

see them follow my lead?

I could create a fake religion,

design my own true creed!

Such foolishness, by crowd and fleet!

By choice they're blind and weak!

They never work to pay their way,

they speak with tongue in cheek.

STOP! and look at yourselves you fools,

following pre-pathed roads!

Make you own way, work night and day,

respect your burdened loads!

I am not a fool, nor shall you be,

nothing in life is free.

even secrets come with a price.

soon shown to all, you'll see.

~Melody

I loved this poem, especially the message. It seems today there aren't any 'origianl' ideas. Because so much has already been written, and we see where certain creations have taken people, but not always our own creations and where they can take us.
Each line was brilliant! I loved the entire piece. Simply beautiful.

Great poem, well written and such a true message! People need to stop following and become their own person! Nice work!

this poem's intent was clear, and let me just say, if there's one thing I can't stand, its a copy-cat. Even this poem against unoriginality is original.

The last four lines were my favorite and it tied the poem together for me. You paint such wonderful pictures in my mind with every poem that you write.

such gallant wisdom in your words, also very nice and memorable passages to share and pass down to family, I'm sure that your children are very proud of you.

Yes.
Some who follow need to understand that they need their own lives!

there are so many unoriginals existing in this world. I've noticed how most of your poems deliver a similar message. I admire you for that... Do continue to open everyone's eyes to make roads of their own... :)

Alas, I think the folks that should read this may not even have the desire to do so. It's a great bundle of spice and only a little preachy; but in a good way. Did you really mean to spell "smerck"? I don't take off points for that sort of stuff because sometimes it's intentional and I have no way of knowing that particular point w/o asking. In fact, I love nonsense words in poems - they can be really fun.

I like the photo and the poem. The description allowed the reader to fall into the poem. I like the mystery of life and nature. I like the ending. Open the doors to thoughts and wonder. Thank you for the outstanding poem.
