At the minds end

At the minds end

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

winter northern lights

We all have seen better days

Some pretty bad ones as well.

I know I have.

I run into people all the time

Who always feel

They will never be happy

Due to one reason or another

Do we even know what happiness is?

Can one person define for me?

Without using a biblical quote

What love?

Joy

Freedom

Or happiness is to them?

Nine out of ten times

Expressions to describe them overlap

We all look so much to our surroundings

To find contentment

It’s not there to be found!

It's something you

And you alone must find

From within yourself

Truly experience that

That which is surrounding you

Learning to filter out the bad

Yet learn from it

Cherish the good

Yet learn you must keep moving forward

Learn how it is possible to be happy

To be peaceful in the midst of a chaotic world

Peace is found at the minds end

This poem carries a lot of truth.

It reminds me of the lyrics of some Reggae
singer who's called Peter Tosh from Bob Marley and the Wailers

it goes like: ' I guess what they want is some peace of mind......
you can't borrow it from a friend
So mine got to come from within. '

WELL DONE !!!

Powerful and intuitive message you describe here, and every word of it is so true. The empathy for people so stuck in the worrisome coils of their own minds, expecting the unexpectable, it's sweetly philosophical and almost tender. Also, very well written, wonderful message you've expressed. I really enjoyed reading this.

You said it well- things outside ourselves can bring pleasure, but not joy and peace. nice job.

Possessives need apostrophes. But you already know that. "Mind's". I just had to reread this. It's that good. Sorry I didn't catch that before. Unless it's a plural form.

This poem is a reminder of all of the stories of those who had life changing epiphanies that came from walking alone. This deep philosophical work was a joy to read. It is art as well as practical advice which saves lives. Beautiful.

Happiness lays within your deepest core. It's for some hard to find it, when it's lost, but if you have it or have found it back, a true bliss. Very beautiful words here, and something to think about. Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed.

It is all within, though often I find no end to the mind, so I let the heart decide where and when to rest, and call it the end.

It's very relatable. It's got a great feel to it, nice pace, meter varies, but consistently good. Nice!
