Tragedy of Mind

Tragedy of Mind

A Poem by Melody Telleria
"

How tragic it is when a writers dreams are dismissed as nonsense. A death occurs in the mind. I find it difficult to realize that many around me think my thoughts are a waste of time and life.

"

On the edge of her promontory begins

the emptiness of space that divides

her blinded soul and forbids the internal ache

to gaze upon the crossover into eternal nothingness.

A rusting of her mind as occured,

"nonsense and waste of time," they said.

Searching her spirit for a glimpse

of the revelry once immersed in,

now stifled from within, for it matters not.

The strenth needed to go on is siphoned

by rejection of the ink offered to the world.

There is a silence in her mind,

that untouched timeless beauty that was crushed, swept away,

a dazzling wildfire extinguished

for its force of meanderings to the ignorant,

immortal enlightenment to few,

the circle of beings she treasured

for their acceptance of her cognizance.

There came the day when she felt the sway

of balance loom over her world.

The blotting of words upon her heart began.

As Plato shook his head and emerged from the cave with torch in hand,

she closes her eyes in acceptance of the isolation she will face,

she's the prisoner in the cave and understands

the chains are not what bind her,

but it's knowing there is darkness ahead.

The nonacceptance, the mockery, expectations,

such a burden that leech her soul.

Her mind flow slowly dispersing into the void,

that fortress now a crumbling heap.

Death of expression, a fine blade to her mind.

So there she stands on the plateau and lifts the veil

that divides her from eternity.

Sighing softly, she crosses in tenderly.

"the chains are not what bind her" , my thoughts led to the realization of self - to be who you are , the worry of acceptance slipping away into the past as one boldly takes the steps towards true freedom , to the freedom of their self.
