Day Surgery

Day Surgery

A Chapter by Jim W White

Going under in the morning

wake to full-body ache

scrape through the day..

go to sleep somone new.

There are (small) risks

when a broken heart is cauterized

and the scar-tissue that

once caught a girly eye

made you a dangerous kinda guy,

well it's fading

But you're in safe hands

The best bedside policy is

nil-by-mouth, you could

show a certain quality by

not saying nowt

even when

the scalpel digs in

Torture seeps through

the keyhole

slow your pulse

and skulk into a dream

she's always there, mostly and

she's never aware

of the miracles that fall

from your fingers

Opens you up with a single line

blinding with powerful lights

sourful, she sleights your love

and ties your key

to a kite string.

How many have written on this topic? You make it tall and new. I can imagine reviewers will call it a clever conceit. I'd have to agree. I waver on whether it is really a terrible thing when soulful she sleights your love. But, then, what do I now of that?
