Holding Onto

Holding Onto

A Poem by Mk.t.g

And I'm still holding onto
Whatever's left behind, now
I don't want to let it go

And I don't want to leave them
Scattered like they never were
Like ashes they burn
In my heart

And I will forever look at them
Like they are replying again
All those times I lost, now

Even though this poem was short, it hit all of the emotions that come from that type of experience. Emotions that are attached to memories you hold near and dear to your heart and can delay the dealing process I enjoyed reading this. Can't wait to see what else you create

you're welcome
Photographs, letters from the past can be difficult to let go of. The memories come flooding back. They stop us from moving forward and living in the now. I am guilty of this myself. A poignant write.

Just remember my friend that there ain't no future in the past. The past is always there. The past is built to last. But obsessions are like pools of quicksand that suck us down and prevent any growth or forward motion. If we can't escape them, we die. Memories belong in a photo album but life belongs to the living and the living had best get about the business of it because death waits for us all. This was a great poem about the pain involved in staying our minds too long in one place. Happiness and peace are not illusions or things we find. They are realities we make for ourselves. I enjoyed the read.

I do understand the below lines my friend.
"And I don't want to leave them
Scattered like they never were
Like ashes they burn
In my heart"
I was the collector of photos for my family. I want to write a memory book. Short stories for the family members, who were kind to us. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
