My Favorite President

My Favorite President

A Poem by MandaBear
"

I was watching a history DVD and got the idea for this poem. I hope you enjoy it!

"
Who is your favorite president?
Which one shall I choose?
Of 44 men I have but one favorite.
One that measures above the rest.

My favorite president was meager yet strong.
He was but a country bumpkin.
His nick name was Old Hickory.
He was a stubborn a mule.

He lost his wife.
He almost didn't go to Washington because of it.
He went and became president.
He started a new chapter in History.

This president hated paper money.
He fought against the bank.
He thought only silver and gold were worth anything.
One day he would end up on the very money he didn't like.

My favorite president had some good deed's under his belt.
He won the battle of New Orleans over the British.
He was the only President to Pay off the national debt.
He purchased Louisiana from Napoleon Bonaparte.

No president goes without a mark on his record.
My favorite president caused the trail of tears.
He adopted an Indian baby but that is not after he killed his parents.
He caused the Panic of 1837.

Despite the bad things of my favorite president, He's still my favorite.
He took no guff from anyone.
He would fight for his honor in over 100 duels.
He fought for what he believed in.

My favorite president was the president of the people.
If you haven't guessed yet My Favorite President is Andrew Jackson.
The good, the bad and the ugly.
This is why he is my favorite president.

Amazing! I love reading things like this. Where are people like Andrew Jackson, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln when we need them right now...? -.-
