T'was The Night Before Thanksgiving

A Poem by MandaBear

Thought it was be fun to write a different version of The night before Christmas. Hope you enjoy

T'was the night before thanksgiving
and all through the house no one was stirring
Not even a mouse
Grandma went in the kitchen to prepare
In hopes everyone would soon be there
Making sure she hasn't forgotten to take her meds
She starts humming Christmas songs in her head
Surely to find Grandpa taking a nap
But with the smell of dinner he woke in a snap
As the house filled with all kinds of chatter
About hoping this year not to get fatter
Grandpa adds lemon and pepper but only a dash
But making sure he doesn't eat his dinner to fast
There is pumpkin pie just so you know
and don't forget about mash potato's
When what did my wondering eyes appear
I turned to see the turkey was near
The meat came out juicy and think
It's cooked with love that is the trick
This is yummy someone exclaimed
You would have to sit in the corner if you complained
Now Kim, Now, Kari, Now Grandpa, Now, Grandma
On, Uncle Tommy On, Natalie, On Sandie and Bentley
Before you hold up a torch, Just know I love you all
Now yawn away, yawn away, yarn away all
As grandpa let out a big sigh
Aunt Kari brought out the delicious pumpkin pie
And maybe even whip cream too
Now that we have a stuffed tummy or two
With that all the food went poof
Even taking care of our sweet tooth
Looking and seeing smiling faces around
Feeling like we all gained a pound
I am very thankful I didn't have to cook
I know once dad finds the couch he's staying put
We all know grandpa is going for a nap
And Sammy will surely find his lap
We can't forget Kim or Kari
Christmas is coming isn't that scary
Just be happy there isn't snow
Kari would say "Oh heck no"
We will be eating Turkey for the next week
Just don't let it be stuck in your teeth
Can you say "Oh Nelly"
I know I am going to feel like a bowl full of jelly
That's what I am going to tell myself
And that's what your going to tell yourself
I am thankful for such a yummy spread
At grandma's house where I was fed
I might need her to sew another notch in my skirt
As I turn around giving a smirk
Just so that everyone knows
You all look nice in your holiday clothes
Just waiting to hear grandma whistle
That she is ready for your dismissal
Because you know mothers are always right
Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a good night
