Behind The Iron Mask

For a contest. Had to use these 10 words in a poem - SCYTHE, MASK, BLOODY CORPSE FOOTSTEPS,SCREAMING,DEADLY,CHASE,HIDING,DRAGGING,DIGGING. Hope you enjoy!

 

In the woods lives a bloody corpse with an Iron mask,

Legend has it was once owned by a knight.

A rogue fellow of ill repute you didn't mess with.

He was charged with murdering the Queen's daughter and once lover.

It was said the knight was one of the Queen's best 

He could make anything he touched into a deadly weapon 

He also mastered the art of love to seduce any woman he wanted 

But for these talents also came consequences 

Forcing the Princess to make love with him she struck him to get away

Leaving a large gash in his face forcing him to wear the Iron mask 

He vowed that day that no woman would never get away again 

The knight killed the Princess with his finest scythe

Drenched in blood he rides off in the night to the wood 

Disposing of the once lovely Princess 

Digging a shallow grave for her to lay her to rest 

All the while feeling urge to kill again 

Soon the knight was slaughtering again 

Silently on the chase hiding in the shadows 

Leaving them with the image of his face from behind the mask

Saying “This is the last face you see and now you can never leave”

 

So next time you are in the woods 

And you see footprints near a Iron mask 

Screaming is the last thing you’ll hear

When he starts dragging you away……

Very dark and scary! I love the word choice and the story line. If you think about it real hard, the whole story could be used as a metaphor... Love it!
