Sonnet of Love

Sonnet of Love

A Poem by MandaBear
"

I wrote this about someone I like a lot. This is my first attempt at writing a sonnet. I used Shakespeare's ABAB CDCD EFEF GG format. Love or Hate let me know

"
Although I have only known you for a week
Every message you send makes me smile
Your love is what my heart came to seek.
My love for you will last a great while.

My lips wish to kiss yours every night.
I want my body against yours.
Laying next to you would be a wonderful sight.
For your looks are what I adore.

 Our souls have become one
Our bodies now belong to each other
With you I feel like like i am loved a ton.
For you are my only lover

Baby promise you will always be mine
I will be ours for all of time

Beautifully written sonnet. Sometimes our first meeting with someone can instantly spark a flame of our desires and it just might be true love.

ok, first of all: oh honey !! second: Shakespeare's sonnet scheme?! I wanna give you a high five right now !! xD Great job for being your first sonnet, keep writing them and keep using Shakespeare's sonnet scheme, we all have a lot to learn from such a great writer *___*

I am an expert of sorts when it comes to sonnets, and I can honestly say that this is very good for a first attempt! The rhymes are nice.

My only critique would be the meter. Traditionally, sonnets have a fixed meter, whereas yours is free. For example, try iambic pentameter. It's the easiest.

When I / have fears / that I / may cease / to be (John Keats)

It's five feet, for a total of ten syllables. Try it, it's a lot of fun to write! And remember to read your sonnets out loud to make sure they sound good on the tongue.

Good luck, and great job with this sonnet! :-)
