Two Days To Go

Two Days To Go

A Poem by James Takeo Panton
"

So, all packed up and ready to move across the country back to my hometown, after almost two years.....the moving truck comes tomorrow, the flight is the next day.....

"

The bags are quickly packed
The door is almost closed
The boxes are all stuffed
Full of my many clothes
The cats run all around
They sense the coming change
They see the way it’s going
That my life is re-arranged
All the stuff that I have
Is all bundled neatly away
Soon to be gone from this place
To be seen the very next day
In another lonely place
In another lonely town
My home was what I called it
Though it had brought me down
I must leave to return there
From the place from where I came
The years have slowly changed me
And I am not the same
My friends, they will be waiting
Or so I’d like to think
Just these few days ahead
Will make me swim or sink
My flight leaves after tomorrow
And then I will be there
Flying over the country
Across the clouds and air
Return to what I knew
The things I had most feared
The memories I longed for
That I held so close and dear
Now I look around me
At this life that I had made
Wondering how it might turn out
If I had only stayed
But my decision made is final
I cannot change it now
And even if I wanted to
It wouldn’t change anyhow
So now I sit and wait
For my time comes soon to go
I’ve many miles behind me
I’ve many miles to go

I like the way you write about your life in this poem.
The changes we go through that make us a different person
so we don't know about our friends .. will they be there ?
Will they still like me with all my changes.. and the family ..
I like this part ..

Flying over the country
Across the clouds and air
Return to what I knew
The things I had most feared
The memories I longed for
That I held so close and dear
Now I look around me
At this life that I had made
Wondering how it might turn out
If I had only stayed
But my decision made is final
I cannot change it now
And even if I wanted to
It wouldn't change anyhow
So now I sit and wait
For my time comes soon to go
I've many miles behind me
I've many miles to go

WE all can relate to that.. good luck ..
