Failure

The best of hopes and greatest of efforts often results in despair and pain for me....

I am finished...

 

My time here is done

All the efforts and hopes and dreams

Have led me here

The end of the road

Where once there was hope and faith

Now linger my fear and doubt

All that I have known for sure

Is the pain and aching within me

The darkness that resides in my heart

 

Let none that tell you

Convince you of the lie

That all will turn out best in the end

For those of good heart

I can show you with my life as an example

How untrue this is

 

Such greatness expected of me

Now denied from me

Such hope and faith had I

Now it turns to bleakness and despair

The struggle that has been my life

The fight from which I would never shirk

Now has me overcome

And leaves me defeated

 

This is not self-pity

It is the reality of my surroundings

No hope

No peace in my heart and mind

 

What great crime had I committed

That leaves me punished

Forevermore?

 

It is done

It is over

The dream is gone

And my heroes call out to me

Beckoning to join them

Free of pain and loss

Free of despair and loss

Free

Finally....
