Savage: A background

Back Story

Unable to fit all of this information into the story itself, without compromising flow.

This is a small guide to the back story to the world of Savage. Please understand that the time is different than human/dog times in real life. I made it to fit more like human years, but with different qualities that would be expected of say a ten year old.

• The world is called the Woodland Haven, or Haven

• It is a large expanse of woods settled at the edge of vast plainland valley.

• The valley is surrounded by massive mountains that lays at the tip of a peninsula

• The forest is settled at the foot of the mountain that leads to the mainland.

• The plains expands a long way to the foot of the far mountains.

• At the center of the Haven is a large mountainous rock where live the current rulers of the Haven. The Wolf regime

A little about the regime change

• The wolves won the control of the Haven 20 years before the story

• They fought in a long and terrible war with the Lion Order

• Pumas/Panthaers, aided by the fox tribe

• The wolves had the birds, fish, bears, and smaller creatures on their side.

• They drove the Lions and Foxes out to the plains, where they rule over the whole rest of the valley

• The wolves honored five leaders for leading them out from under the Lions order

• By the time the story starts there are two surviving members of that group

• Jedus and Luka

• The main story starts with a chase after a murderer who has killed Jedus

• Gray is a member of the four man squad sent after the assassin

• He is the brother of Felix, the current leader of the order

• They are the son of the third leader to die; Tero

• Luka, the last survivor is an older wolf, who in her prime was a brilliant tactician

• She is now about 40 years old, still considered a beautiful animal

The government

• Government is a sort of constitutional monarchy

• The wolves have the king, currently Felix

• they also have the most seats on the council

• Each animal group that supported the Wolves is represented

• Insects, Birds, Bears, Fish, deer, and the smaller creatures (squirrels, rabbits, racoons)

• Felix, as king is given the honor of presiding over he council meetings.

• Before, the Lion order was a straight monarchy, where the king of the lions ruled over the others. They were unfair in their treatment of other animals, besides the Foxes, who weaseled their way into the Lion's trust

• They were then banished after the war

• It is said they rule over the outlands, (the plains outside of Haven)

• The Lions have been quiet, but the Fox clan has been moving to overthrow the Wolf regime.
