Perfect

Perfect

A Poem by me
"

about a girl struggling to be societies version of perfect.

"
Once upon a time,
in a world of make believe,
there lived a girl,
and she was perfect.
Down to Earth,
she loved to read and write and draw.
Unique  and creative,
a true artist at heart.
This is what made her perfect.
Others, however, did not like the way she looked,
the way she dressed, or the way she spoke.
They used their words to tear her down,
until she did not like herself.
But, she was perfect.
Her mind overtaken by their hateful words,
she lost sight of who she was.
Always trying to look like them,
talk like them.
Trying to be their vision of perfect.
One day, she got so sick of trying,
sick of failing,
sick of crying.
she realized it was not working,
That she could never be perfect.
 finally, she gave up trying,
So lost she was,
no idea who to be.
So she decided to end it all,
a perfect rope around her perfect neck.
But in a perfect world,
the girl would be loved and cherished,
her art encouraged,
and could be all that she wanted to be.
And she would be perfect.

This was a delightful free verse poem to read. When we contemplate a ladybug and a butterfly we find that each one is perfectly beautiful in their own way although they're different. A ladybug would have no desire to look like a butterfly and vice versa. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Sometimes we never know how far our words will carry someone to do something like this...it is sad how people put others down instead of encouraging them...everyone is different, that is how one is unique. You did a good job with the emotion and flow of this.

Good Job
