More Than a Contradiction

More Than a Contradiction

More Than a Contradiction

Broken promises, wonderful lies,

Why didn’t I see them in your eyes?

What happened to ‘you and only you?’

Was your ‘I love you’ also untrue?

You swore we’d always be together,

That we would tie the knot forever.

But I guess forever is just a word,

T’was a line from theater of the absurd.

Apparently, a s**t opened my eyes.

I confronted you and your disguise.

But what you said hit me to the gut,

You said you love me, but also that s**t.

I know I can’t be everything you want,

She has some things that you want to flaunt.

Complimentary more than contradiction,

Me plus her equals your lovely addiction.

But still, there’s a reason why we only have one heart for affection,

And that is to love and accept one person despite the imperfection.

So... Can we love more than one person at one time? Yeah, I think so. I read it somewhere that being in love with two people is more of complimentary than contradiction. What do you think? :))

This is gorgeous! Such an amazing poetry! I love how you changed the writing style to accentuate some of the words!

In my personal opinion, no you can't love more then one person at a time, one will always be a stronger feeling then the other. Usually the second, coz consider this: If you loved the first person so much, why did you fall for the second?
Great read :)

When a person's heart is pure and walks in the light of the heavens, it contains more than enough love to embrace multiple people. It is this gift from the divine that allows humanity to reach out to those who need a hug and let them know they all are important.
While your words speak of relationships, the same principle can be applied to how people walk through life in general.
It is only the anchors of jealousy and envy that drag people down to the concept of "One heart, One love."

maybe I plus her rather than 'me plus her'.
the line 'I know I can’t be everything you want,
She has some things that you want to flaunt.' strucked me though.

You can love many peeps at one time. But it's the one that you connect with that you need to be aware of. That's the one you will always turn to for comfort, for advice, for almost your everything. That one you love more than the rest. That one should be the complimentary soul. That one is your soul, just in a different body. That's what I think anyway. (sometimes I over think but there it is all the same) Lovely poem and thought provoking at the heart. Very nice question to ask as well, and I'm sure you will get many answers. Thank you for a lovely read. :)

I agree with you. I think people can love more than one person at a time. You did a great job on this poem. My favorite lines are "I know I can’t be everything you want,
She has some things that you want to flaunt.
Complimentary more than contradiction,
Me plus her equals your lovely addiction."
That stanza totally won me over.

I believe we can, people just settle. I'm a young adult, but I feel as confused and over whelmed as a child.

I dont think you can love two peopel at once, cheating is wrong since its going behind ones back and you can only love one person with your everything :P Great poem though :)
