Stolen Night

Stolen Night

A Poem by L

I slept away the centuries
My breath was all that stirred:
Its steady rhythm
Was the ebbing flow
Of life,
As my empty chest
Rose and fell
With the mighty

Battle cries
And love's lament
Fell against my ears,
And their consequence
Sought my consciousness,
That lay too deep
To be

No screaming birth,
Nor death the same,
Nor man who lived
Without a name,
Was the kiss
To draw my eyes
From wondrous dreams,
As the sky
Covered earth with her tears

All was still
In her last breath
When I woke as love
And knew You
