Gamble

Gamble

A Poem by parker

I think you knew it was a gamble

To give your heart to me.

To present me with a diamond,

To treat me like a queen.

'A red rose for the lady,'

You thought you could be king.

But I'm sorry Jack, I never thought

You'd wager everything.

I said you were an ace,

I said we were a pair.

Too bad you never saw my cards,

Saw only jokers there.

You've seen your hand and placed your bet,

You'll try to win me like the others.

But I am, you know, the Ace of Spades,

A loner, not a lover.

I think you knew it was a gamble

To bet it all on me.

You know I only play to win,

I only deal for victory.
