Not Perfect

Not Perfect

A Poem by parker

I’m not perfect.

I make mistakes every day

Too brash, too mean, too intense,

Too quick to take offense,

Too slow to make amends,

Too distant from my friends.

I’m not perfect.

I see it in the mirror every day

Too big, too broad, too strong

Teeth too crooked, arms too long,

Thighs too thick, hands too rough,

Chest too flat and face too tough.

I’m not perfect, and I’ll never be

But I’ve discovered

a perfect version of me

And I see it in your eyes every day.

You look at me and see my humor

My kindness, my intelligence, my heart.

You look past all the flaws and see

The most hidden, tender parts.

You look at me and you see beauty,

My hand in yours, my smiling face

You look past all the problems and see

A masterpiece beauty in my place.

I’m still not perfect and I’ll never be.

But you make me the best version of me.

The happiest, the kindest, the most loving me.

I’m not perfect but I’d rather be

This flawed, imperfect girl

who fits with you so perfectly.
