Intertwined

A Poem by parker

The girl.
The one.
Your heart.
Your pen scratches across the page-
Staccato-
A fine-tipped instrument lolling
In your large, rough hand,
Dragging black ink thoughts
Across the paper.
You create a dream,
A future,
A life for you and this girl.
Scripting laughter and joy
With smooth and fluid strokes
And foretelling sorrow and pain
With jagged, stabbing slashes.

Somewhere far away she's lying
Stretched out on her bedroom floor
Whispering prophecies
As her pen draws them out.
Her long, slender fingers
Balance the fine-tipped paintbrush;
She unravels daydreams
In a tight, round script.
Her pen flows across the page-
Soothing-
Sighing prayers of a wondrous love.
Not purity and perfection,
But acceptance and forgiveness.

You are intertwined,
Two souls linked across the lands
Writing the same poetry.
The sonnet of your future love
That is as of yet
Untitled.
