The Root of All Evil

The Root of All Evil

A Poem by Persephone

Money

Want it

Need it

Get it

Lose it

If only

If only

I was a woman of wealth

I’d be

Limitless

Carefree

I’d have no regret

I’d buy what I wanted

I wouldn’t have debt

Why must I squander the dollars and cents?

Items I once found essential

Now I look at with distaste

Because the more I obtain

The more that I waste

The irony of it

The funny thing is

It’s the wish to be wealthy

That keeps my wallet empty

This write here speaks to people everywhere. I think we all have that desire to be wealthy. But with wealth comes many dark days and fake people who wanna show you fake love and friendship. Money IS the root of all evil! Hey persephone...you have a couple of dollars for gas.........

You said it loud and strong... the more people have the more they want... you see millionaires filling for bankruptcy all the time... seems everyone lives beyond their means... it is an ongoing bad habit of every American at least.

Quite a paradox, ain't it? "It's my desire for wealth that keeps my wallet empty"
Story of my life too :)

So frustrating hehe thanks for reading!
Good concept but a little contrived. Write from the heart. if not write from sppontaneous thought or emotion; you are good enough.

Not sure that money necessarily makes you carefree in the long run...in every state of being there we are with our old demons to fight. I know, I know...it's just me, have to clarify LOL! You are fabulous and express yourself with ease and grace.

the title says it all I think, and a crammed wallet in the hands of the wrong person will always be empty
