When I'm GoneA Poem by Phil HubbardA note to my adult childrenWill you miss me when I'm gone? Will there be days when you think, if I turn around he will be there? Will you reach for your phone to call or to text when you need a hand and realize there's no service here. Will you think about the choices I made that affected your life and the choices you've made to become who you are? Are you angry and resentful about all the moves the separation the distance the disruption I caused in your life? Will you remember at all that I didn't turn away now that you're grown? That I was there to help you in every way with the choices you've made with support and encouragement a strong back and a willingness to share what I have? Will you remember me with pride or with love or just as your Dad and know that I'm a part of who you are? © 2019 Phil Hubbard |
