Because the way I talk

Means I’m a hood rat?

 

You see people like you

Are racist without knowing

You claim you love cultures

But hate the language I’m showing.

People do have a tendency to make fun of accents.

My Southern accent can sound musical to some, silly to others. My father, who was an English major in college, and in radio all his life, taught us to talk without any accent. It has helped me in many situations. But to be me, my accent is also a part of the whole package.
