Town and Country

Town and Country

A Poem by Scott H.
"

City mouse, country mouse

"

"Town and Country"

I would be a creature of concrete

Born from the hum of the city

With veins that run like commuter lines

Connecting my various districts to

The hub-and-spoke of my heart,

Electrified by the undercurrents that

Oscillate and reverberate around me.

Yet I am a son of the wilderness

Consanguineous of wood and hill

With veins that run like tributaries

Connecting my slow lakes and rivers to

The turbulent sea of my heart,

Rapt with the wonders of nature that

Flow and effervesce about me.

Scott:

Very nice comparison/contrast format. This is a good one. The first strophe is much tighter, more refined than the second one. It reads really well outloud. The second one is good, but with just a few tiny awkward spots.

Well done. I enjoyed it.

I like either title and I like the poem very much. I think I am reflected in this piece.
