Assassinating Summer
A Poem by Scott H.
Fall is a ninja
“Assassinating Summer”
It creeps into
The trees like
A ninja,
Silent and stealthy
Then – wham!
Sword-flashes of
Color that
Slash through the green
Like wounds bleeding,
The first precious
Drops of Autumn,
Shuriken in red
And copper
Assassinating Summer
One leaf at
A time while
Nights like chill blood
And old religions
Prep their offerings
To Fall.
