The fact i they are all from the great state of Texas

---Don't you wish you hailed from Texas too?

There's George Strait and Willie Nelson

Eva Longoria and Kris Kristofferson too;

Nolan Ryan, George Bush and Sam Rayburn

Celebrities that hail from a Texas point of view.

Giant John Wayne starred in 'The Alamo" here

Where 183 brave soldiers stood their ground

They fought and gave their lives for Freedom

That's why the Lone Star State is still around.

Texas is the only State where it's still legal

To fly the State Flag and Old Glory too;

The reason for this is part of Texas History

(We once were the Republic of Texas too)

Texas hosts the famous Austin City Limits

At the live music Capitol of the world;

That's why we say "God Bless Texas Y'all"

---It's the USA's limitless glittering Pearl.

Texas is beyond Bluebonnets, JR and Dallas

More than San Antonio's famous Riverwalk too;

If it's not here--you probably don't need it--

(If it worked for Davy Crockett, it's great for you)

So thank you President Lyndon B. Johnson

That you fabulous Farrah Fawcett too-

We Salute the great TEXAS Lone Star State

--Aren't you glad I'm in TEXAS too!

I salute the great TEXAS Lone Star State too........and wonder if it shall one day be a country in itself???
A republic again on the horizon??? It seems to me to be one of the few states with the guts to do it!

I have been watching the noteworthy interests and activities and ACTIONS of Senator Cruz......I was hoping he would filibuster the budget increase approval, but he did not. He, though born in Canada would make a good candidate to spearhead/run the REPUBLIC OF TEXAS!! Do you agree??????

I was lucky. I was station for six years at Fort Hood. Highway 35 was most fun highway I had ever knew. Texas is a great state. Last time I read my poetry in public was in Austin. A great city. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I read for three years. The Austin folks allowed me to be the back-up Poet. If someone didn't show up. I read. I met many good writers at the Austin Poetry festival in 1994-1997. Austin is a great city.

Doug, I am not originally from Texas but I got here as fast as I could. I have lived in San Antonio for over 35 years and I can say that Texas is one great state. I am very proud to call myself a texan. Thank you for this poem pointing out many of our shining stars and attributes.

In twenty-eight lines, the word "too" is the endsound in eight of them, appearing TWICE in two stanzas! I like your content here, but truly feel that to make your content sing, you'll be wanting to work on your craft a little harder, get a rhyming dictionary, something.
Incidentally, I lived in Tejas--Jefferson, Marion County--for eight years. Coincidence? Yeah, probably!
And by the way, ALL states have the right to fly their flags, but only Texas may fly hers AT THE SAME ALTITUDE; the others are required to be lower than the Stars-and-Stripes, if only by inches.
