The past nears; closing in
Squeezing too tight
Breathing strangled

With military stealth
It creeps silently
Closing off oxygen

Brick by brick
A wall forms
Brick by brick
It does protect

Dreams form within
Surrounding time
Consuming deep thoughts

Images begin connecting
Creating fictional desires
Consuming what is real

Brick by brick
A wall forms
Brick by brick
It does protect

Reality hits hard
Limits jelled in place
With unmovable stone

It's not happening again
Not this time around
Keeping the heart safe

Thank you. We all build walls for different reasons. I have recently reconnected with someone ver important to me but I'm keeping walls in place so I don't travel down a road of teardrops and pain. Good person just too far away.
